Plan of Hill 60 Mining System was originally prepared by: Captain John Warnock MC, Mistruct.F, MICE with the following explanatory captions –


“Showing trench systems and mining galleries.  Mining scheme, originally commenced by the French, was extended and developed during 1915 and early 1916 by 171 and 175 Tunnelling Companies RE.

The offensive charges used in the Battle of Messines completed by 3rd Canadian Tunnelling Company and were fired by the 1st Australian Tunnelling Company at zero hour on June 7th 1917.”
